You are different and will always be. This is the reason why you don’t fit in with the majority. You were never designed to fit. As sure as you stand for the truth of God’s Word, I can assure you that you will be criticized, persecuted and isolated. You will be called intolerable and an extremist. Listen to Jesus’ words …
If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. (John 15:18-20)
So, please STOP trying to gain the world’s approval. STOP trying to befriend the world under the guise that you are trying to reach them “by any means necessary.” Surely, we are called to reach the lost but not by gimmicks and tricks that causes one to compromise the faith. In other words, you don’t need to take drugs to reach the drug addict. You don’t need to murder to reach a murderer. You don’t need to commit adultery to reach the adulterer. Y’all know what I’m saying. The real answer is “by Christ and Christ alone.” Jesus said that if He would be lifted up He would draw all men to himself.
So today, here’s your assignment. Think about your friends. Think about the things you love the most. Are you thinking? Good. Now, my question is – how well does 
your light shine in those situations and around those people? Are you guilty of dimming your light because you don’t want to be seen as an offense or “holier than thou”? Have you found yourself dimming it so that you could fit in? The truth of the matter is – light penetrates darkness and exposes sin. There is no escape for darkness once light is introduced on the scene. That’s why there will always be people who hate to see you coming and are excited to see you leave. For the record, this is not because you’re judgmental but rather because of the light you carry. Listen; let me put it this way. If all your friends are unsaved and they are comfortable around you – perhaps it’s time to check your battery because your light has become dimmed OR perhaps, you’re hiding your light under a bushel…
Remember my sisters and brothers, as a Believer, you have been called to come out and separate yourselves from the things of the world. Unapologetically, there are certain people and certain things you must let go of. You say, “That’s hard!” I’m sure it is but the Holy Spirit will be your Helper.
Having said all of that, God has given each of us free will. What you do with your free will is up to you. Please know however God’s warning regarding the choice you make. You can choose to do your own thing and find yourself at odds with God or you can choose God’s way.
“…whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
Stick with God and you can’t go wrong. It’s not about Him taking things from you but rather about Him keeping you from destruction. This may not make sense to you right now or even seem fair but everything about this world and its pleasures are only temporary. However, to follow Christ is to inherit an eternity of indescribable peace, love and joy.
